Diamond pattern, also known as double cuts, combines straight grooves with diagonal grooves. Cows get traction in every direction, not just one.

We recommend the diamond pattern in high-traffic areas where cows push and turn a lot, around corners, in front of doorways, and when pen breeding with a bull.

Straight grooves and diamond patterns

Straight barn floor grooving cuts 5/8" and 3/4" wide grooves into existing concrete. Diamond pattern grooves are cut diagonally across straight grooves for multi-directional traction.

We match the pattern to your floor and how the area is used, including walkways, crossovers and areas where cattle turn. The right pattern depends on your floor condition and how the area is used.

Already have diamond grooving?

Mini grooving uses 1/4" wide diamond blades spaced 1/2" apart. It's ideal for dairies turning manure solids for bedding that already have diamond pattern grooving. It adds closely spaced grooves to the remaining smooth surface.

We use water to cool the diamond blades and control dust. We work to keep the area tidy and discuss cleanup and when the floor can return to use.
